I recently learned to play it on guitar, and when I do it seems to take on a new meaning. When I play it, it’s like I’m expressing what you wrote rather than just agreeing with it.

I agree with the point that the Way of Jesus and the way of America are too often misconstrued as being one and the same. I’d like to see that other blog.

It’s disturbing to me that “voters’ guides” are handed out in churches, which essentially endorse a particular Presidential candidate. This is never explicit, of course, but it’s almost as if a particular candidate is made out to be God’s Choice. Along with that, thinking otherwise is something to be looked down upon, if not rejected outright, with no further explanation necessary. I have experienced this.

An “us vs. them” mentality is spiritually and emotionally damaging, and is not Christ-like. This applies to more than politics. I’d like to know where the love we’re supposed to exude is to be found in that…
