Tom Waits is an amazing person and brilliant musician. His lyrics are so good at forcing you to think and give you just enough so you can figure out your own opinion. It is this kind of brokenness that shatters us and brings to light our true beliefs and doubts. Faith is not black and white.

If not the news networks, the families or the neighbors.. If not the world He made, then must not God Himself protect the most vulnerable among us?

I’m curious to read what you have to say about this. I once used to have an answer for this. It’s an answer that I continue to hear other people say, but in all honesty that answer no longer makes any sense to me (and to be truthful, I’m not sure that it ever really did).

You usually avoid going with the standard Christian apologetic talking points though, so I’m curious as to where you’re going with this.
